Negri Sembilan

Seremban Lake GardensNegri Sembilan or ‘the land of nine states’ in Malaysia is carved out of the combination of nine erstwhile independent states.

Seremban Lake Gardens
The Lake Gardens at Seremban, the provincial capital, is a relaxing place in the tropical heat of Negri Sembilan. The two lakes, sitting amidst landscaped greenery, offer eye-pleasing scenic view. On one of these lakes, cultural shows are held on a floating stage.

State Mosque
In close vicinity of the Lake Gardens is the State Mosque. Its nine pillars stand for the nine districts of the State.

Cultural Handicraft Complex
The Cultural Handicraft Complex, local name Kompleks Taman Seni Budaya Negri, comes forth with an array of handicraft offerings. Historic artefacts of Negeri Sembilan are also displayed here. The complex is located at Labu Spur.

State Museum
The state museum, located within the Cultural Handicraft Complex, has on display several historical artifacts telling a lot about the state’s history.

Port Dickson
Port Dickson, a seaside resort, is mostly visited by the locals for day trips. Located 32 km off Seremban, the resort wears a bustling look on weekends. Lying on the shores of the Straits of Malacca, this resort with miles long beaches and an array of accommodation options is a favorite hotspot of the people in Kuala Lumpur and neighboring towns. An annual event is held here between July and August.

Blue Lagoon
Blue Lagoon beach is the place where a movie with the same name was shot. Just at half kilometers from the beach, you will find a flight of steps which will take you to a 16th century lighthouse. For entering the lighthouse, you have to take prior permission.

Pedas Hot Springs
Locals hold that the hot water from the underground springs here has medicinal values for certain diseases. You could take bath in private enclosures.

Reaching Negri Sembilan

Just 50 km from Kuala Lumpur, Seremban is easily accessible. The Kuala Lumpur International Airport is at half and hour. All major towns in West Malaysia are well-linked to Negri Sembilan. A train also runs from Butterworth, Kuala Lumpur to Seremban. Thereafter buses would take you to the beach resort of Port Dickson.
