Types of Visa
The Government of Malaysia issues three types of visas to foreign nationals: Single Entry Visa, Multi Entry Visa and Transit Visa.
Single Entry Visa is issued if the applicant’s purpose is social, tourist or business visit. The visa is valied for three months from the date of issue.
Multiple Entry Visa is issued mainly for business or government to government matters. It is valid for three to twelve months from the date of issue.
Transit visa is issued to the nationals who wish to enter Malaysia while on way to other countries. If one does not intend to leave the airport, the transit visa is not required.
How to Apply
Application for tourist visa should be submitted at the nearest Malaysian Missions abroad. In countries where Malaysian Missions does not work, application should be submitted to the British High Commission or Embassy. The applicant has to present himself for getting the visa.

Form IM.47 (3 copies)
Three passport sized photographs
Return or onward - journey traveling ticket
Proof of sufficient funds
Costs of Visa
Costs of Visa are subject to change. Contact the Malaysian High Commission for details.
Duration of Visa
Duration of Visa is at the discretion of the issuer. Generally it is 1 to 3 months from date of issue. Extension of visa could be provided.
Requirement of Visa
Nationals of these countries DO NOT REQUIRE VISA for Social or Tourist Visit. Period allowed for stay is three months.

IRAQ, LIBYA, SYRIA, MACAU (TRAVEL PERMIT), PORTUGAL (ALIEN PASSPORT), PALESTINE, SIERRA LEONE, SOMALI, SOUTH YEMEN.
Nationals of Iran DO NOT require a visa to enter Malaysia For Social Visit and the duration of stay is 15 days only.
All Commonwealth Countries except: INDIA, PAKISTAN, BANGLADESH, SRI LANKA AND NIGERIA DO NOT require a visa to enter Malaysia For Any Purpose of Visit.
Nationals of these countries REQUIRE a visa for Any Purpose of Visit.
Sub Continent Nationals: BANGLADESH, INDIA, PAKISTAN, SRI LANKA.
African Countries: ANGOLA, BURKINA FASO, BURUNDI, CAMEROON, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC, CONGO REPUBLIC, CONGO DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC, COTE D'IVOIRE, DJIBOUTI, EQUATORIAL GUINEA, ERITREA, ETHIOPIA, GUINEA-BISSAU, GHANA, LIBERIA, MALI, MOZAMBIQUE, NIGER, NIGERIA, RWANDA, WESTERN SAHARA.
Other Countries: TAIWAN, MYANMAR, NEPAL, BHUTAN, PR CHINA
Citizens of the United States of America DO NOT require a visa to enter Malaysia For Social Visit & Study.
Visa on Arrival
Visa-on-arrival is issued to foreign nationals who already possess a visa to enter Singapore or Thailand.
However, this is subject to some conditions.
The visa is granted only for tourist purposes. Duration is 14 days. Extension of visa is NOT allowed.
These nationals must have a confirmed return ticket
The point of entry has to be the Kuala Lumpur International Airport OR The Sultan Abu Bakar Complex, Tanjung Kupang.
Exceptions
Nationals of ANGOLA, BURKINA FASO, BURUNDI, CAMEROON, ETHIOPIA, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC, CONGO REPUBLIC, DEMOCRATIC CONGO REPUBLIC, COTE D'IVORE, DJIBOUTI, EQUATORIAL GUINEA, ERITREA, GUINEA-BISSAU, GHANA, LIBERIA, MALI, MOZAMBIQUE, NIGER, NIGERIA, RWANDA, and WESTERN SAHARA are not granted visa on arrival.
